Misplaced Orthodoxies

Focus Art Fair 2022 x Flower Shop Collective

Utilizing objects kept by the MET museum and a sculpture exhibited by Versailles. I reinterpreted the myth of Nekatakoa, a Muisca deity.

The artwork bridges the connection between Paris and New York by using objects kept by art institutions in their respective countries. Imposing the indigenous work of Abya Yala over the European sculpture I depict the importance of my ancestry without forgetting our violent past. The artwork lives within between the reality of NOICANICULA at that of our own, it lies between the liminal space of doubt and uncertainty.
